Agartala, May 29: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday issued a stern warning against anti-party activities and indiscipline within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), stating that strict action would be taken against anyone violating party discipline, irrespective of their position in the organization.
Addressing party workers and leaders during a felicitation programme for newly appointed state BJP president Abhishek Debroy at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, the Chief Minister called upon party functionaries to further strengthen the BJP organisation down to the booth level while maintaining discipline, commitment to party ideology and close relations with the people.
Dr. Saha said those making anti-party remarks on social media would not be spared.
“No matter how big a leader someone is, strict action will be taken if party discipline is crossed,” he said, adding that both the party and the administration would coordinate to take necessary measures in such cases.
He also warned that individuals who joined the party only for financial gain would be identified.
Expressing confidence in the leadership of the new state president, the Chief Minister said the Tripura BJP would move towards “a new direction, renewed enthusiasm and greater heights” under Debroy’s leadership.
Launching a sharp attack on the opposition, Dr. Saha claimed that communists had become ‘politically bankrupt’ and were disappearing across the country. He asserted that in the next elections, the Left parties would face defeat in all the Assembly constituencies of Tripura where they currently hold power.
The Chief Minister also criticised the Leader of the Opposition for his remarks over alleging links with drug networks. He claimed that drug mafias created during the previous regime were now being exposed, which, according to him, had prompted such reactions from the opposition leader.
