ECI invites Tipra Motha for talks on illegal migration: Pradyot

Tipra Motha founder and royal scion Pradyot Kishore Debbarma on Saturday announced that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has officially invited the party for a discussion on the issue of illegal migration from Bangladesh. The meeting is scheduled to be held on July 23.

The development comes in the wake of continuous pressure and public outreach from Tipra Motha, which has been raising concerns over demographic changes in Tripura due to cross-border infiltration.

In a statement shared on social media, Pradyot said, “After continuous uproar and media attention from all of us from Tipra Motha, the Election Commission of India has invited us to discuss the matter of illegal migration from Bangladesh to India on the 23rd of July.”

Addressing critics, he added, “At least we are trying to protect our next generation and looking beyond party politics. This is not just a fight of Tipra Motha party but every Indian. Please rise above party politics and unite against illegal migration.”

The issue of illegal migration has long been a sensitive topic in Tripura, where regional parties and civil society groups have expressed concerns about the impact on indigenous communities.
