ECI revises SIR schedule in Tripura for VC polls

Agartala, Sept 09: The Election Commission of India revised the schedule for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Tripura due to announcement of Village Committee elections.

As per the revised schedule, preparation, training & printing will take place from 27.10.2026 to 05.11.2026. The House to House visits by BLOs is scheduled from 06.11.2026 to 05.12.2026. Rationalization/ Rearrangement of Polling Stations will be made by 05.12.2026 while publication of the draft electoral roll will take place on 12.12.2026.

Any claims and objections may be filed from 12.12.2026 to 10.01.2027 while notice Phase; disposal of claims and objection will be from 12.12,2026 to 09.02.2027.

According to the Election Commission of India, the final electoral roll will be published on February 15, 2027.

Meanwhile, a delegation of Bharatiya Janata Party had requested the Election Commission to defer the SIR process following announcement of the VC poll schedule at the same time.

ECI secretary Pawan Diwan in his letter to the Chief Electoral Officer Tripura mentioned, “I am directed to refer to your letter dated 04.09.2026 requesting therein deferment of the schedule of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the State of Tripura in view of the announcement of General Elections to all the Village Committee constituencies, 2026, under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District (TTAADC). The Commission has approved the proposal made therein.”

As per the notification, EROs shall also invite advance applications for subsequent qualifying dates 1st April, 1st July and 1st October, 2027 while publishing notice for draft publication in Form-5. All the remaining guidelines issued in the Commission's previous SIR order shall remain unchanged.
