The Agriculture department of Tripura is moving ahead in mission mode to implement the World Bank-supported Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP).
A state-level orientation programme held recently at Dasarath Deb Memorial Auditorium infused fresh energy into the department, motivating Agri-Horti officials to actively take charge of the project. Since then, departmental teams have shown strong ownership and engagement in ground-level implementation.
According to Abdur Rahman Choudhury, State Media Manager, TRESP Project, building on this momentum, a hands-on training session was organized on July 24, 2025, for members of Hukbar and Risha Producer Groups (PGs) at two Farmer Field Schools (FFS) in Jampuijala Block.
The training focused on scientific methods for raising healthy seedlings using raised beds and protrays. This session was led by Subrata Shib, Agriculture Specialist from the TRESP PMU.
The PG members expressed satisfaction with the training, as it was their first time working with protrays in a live demonstration setting. The sessions were conducted under the technical guidance of experts from TSA (Agri) — Dr. Dhrubajyoti Pal, Dr. Anjan Debnath, and Pulak Choudhury — who served as the lead resource persons.
Team Lead Biseswar Talukder, Field Expert Pradyut Debbarma, and Programme Manager (Agri-Horti, PIU) Akash Debbarma also attended and supported the initiative.
These demonstrations are proving especially encouraging for women farmers, sparking interest and boosting confidence in adopting improved farming practices.
With Dr. P.B. Jamatia, Director, at the helm, the Agriculture Department is fast-tracking field-level, result-driven interventions under TRESP — bringing focus, innovation, and sustainable growth to rural producer groups across Tripura.
