Sometimes, responsibility speaks in silence. And sometimes, it’s seen in small, graceful acts—like a father standing beside his daughters, their arms bandaged after donating blood and their smiles speaking louder than any words.
At IGM Hospital’s blood bank on Saturday, a quiet story of legacy and compassion unfolded. Marking World Blood Donor Day, Sauvik Bardhan Roy and his two daughters came together not just to donate blood—but to continue a family journey of giving back to society.
For Bardhan Roy, an official of the Legal Metrology Department, this was not just another donation. It was his 70th contribution, a number that reflects not just generosity but decades of silent service.
What began as a personal commitment back in 2002 at Ramnagar-3 residence in the presence of Swami Dibyananda Maharaj, has now become a family tradition.
This time, the moment was made more special as his younger daughter, Dakshini, stepped forward for the very first time. Having recently turned 18, she embraced the legacy with grace, guided by her elder sister Debjani, a regular donor who completed her ninth donation on this day.
For them, this wasn’t just about blood donation—it was about building something greater together: a small, personal tradition of giving that quietly inspires those around them.
As the world remembered Karl Landsteiner—the pioneer behind blood transfusion—the Bardhan Roy family celebrated in their own way, showing that compassion often begins at home.
