Farmer Field Schools launched under TRESP at Mungiakami Block

In a significant step towards farmer empowerment, three Farmer Field Schools (FFS) were recently launched at North and South Maharanipur VCs under Mungiakami R.D. Block.

The initiative benefitted three Producer Groups — Jora PG and Larima PG from North Maharanipur VC, and Salswkang PG from South Maharanipur VC — who marked the occasion by holding their first training sessions.

The inaugural FFS session featured a live demonstration on “Bottle Gourd Containerized Seedling Production”, where participants practiced the entire process in a stepwise manner.

Over 45 tribal women farmers actively engaged in the hands-on session, gaining confidence and skills in healthy seedling management and timely transplanting.

Each FFS will continue through the entire crop cycle, from sowing to harvest, in five phases. Trainers will also provide on-demand field support whenever farmers require assistance, ensuring continuous guidance.

The programme was conducted under the leadership of Subrata Shib (State TRESP Agri.-Horti. Specialist), supported by Dr. Sibaprasad Majumder and Dr. Dhrubajyoti Pal (TSA Consultants). They were joined by Rahul Das (TSA Field Expert) and BPMU officials Ms. Purba Deb (BPM) and Baptosh Debbarma (Cluster Coordinator – Agri.-Horti).

The active participation of Producer Group members made the sessions highly interactive, practical, and outcome-oriented, setting the stage for sustainable agricultural growth under TRESP.
