Five projects worth Rs. 2 cr approved for Dasda under NITI Aayog's Aspirational Block Prog

Agartala, May 18: North Tripura’s Dasda block is set to witness a fresh wave of development after the Empowered Committee of NITI Aayog approved a package of five infrastructure and welfare projects worth Rs 2 crore under the Aspirational Blocks Programme.

The proposals, presented virtually by North Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Chandni Chandran, focused on improving rural livelihoods, digital education, sports infrastructure, hostel facilities and child welfare services in the block.

One of the major initiatives approved is the construction of an “Akanksha Haat” with an estimated cost of Rs 40 lakh. The marketplace is expected to create a dedicated platform for women associated with Self-Help Groups (SHGs) to showcase and sell locally produced goods, thereby strengthening income generation activities in rural areas.

To promote sporting activities among young people, the committee also sanctioned Rs 70 lakh for an “Akanksha Indoor Sports Complex”. The proposed facility will provide indoor sports infrastructure aimed at encouraging youth participation in athletics and recreational activities.

In another key intervention, 200 Anganwadi centres across Dasda Block will be electrified under a Rs 40 lakh project. Officials said the initiative would improve the functioning of childcare centres and enhance services for women and children in remote areas.

The approved package also includes Rs 20 lakh for installation of computers and projectors in five schools to improve digital learning facilities and classroom access to technology.

Additionally, four residential hostels in the block will undergo upgradation with an allocation of Rs 30 lakh to improve accommodation standards and essential facilities for students.

Officials associated with the programme stated that the projects were prepared after identifying critical gaps in education, livelihood support, sports infrastructure and welfare services in the Aspirational Block.

Following the approval, District Magistrate Chandni Chandran expressed gratitude to NITI Aayog and said groundwork for implementation of the projects would begin soon.
