Flood relief: Tripura CM’s call for contributions sees massive response

Agartala, Aug 31: A call of Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for generous contributions in support to the people affected by recent floods across the state has been receiving unbelievable response from the people.

After the recent flood devastated Tripura, claiming 32 lives and causing damages worth over Rs. 15,000 crore, the Chief Minister made an appeal to the people for donation. 

In response to the call, many of the individuals from various walks of life and organizations are coming together in solidarity with the flood victims in this challenging time.

While a good number of individuals, organizations and NGOs are directly reaching out to the affected people for providing relief, many are contributing to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, directly through the Chief Minister and digital mode. 

The Chief Minister himself and Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu contributed their one-month salaries for the flood victims while Chief Ministers of several states- Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Arunachal Pradesh announced monetary assistance for the flood-hit Tripura. Besides, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced PMNRF ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives and Rs. 50,000 for those injured.

In a remarkable display of unwavering generosity and compassion, a little girl from Bishalgarh- Ayantika Das met the Chief Minister with her piggy bank (Lakshmi Bhandar) and contributed the savings amounting to Rs. 8,820, extending support to the people affected by the floods. 

Such contributions for this noble cause are not only reflecting the true spirit of humanity but also bringing as a hope for the flood victims.
