Foreign delegates invited to attend ‘Maayer Gomon’ puja carnival in Agartala

Elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the fifth edition of the Maayer Gomon puja carnival, which will mark the culmination of the Durga Puja festivities in Agartala on October 23.

Since 2024, the traditional venue in front of Maharani Tulsibati Girls' School has served as the main centre of the carnival, which has emerged as a prominent event marking the conclusion of the annual Durga Puja celebrations.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will inaugurate the carnival at 5 pm on October 23. Other members of the state Cabinet, MPs, the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation and several other dignitaries are also expected to attend the event.

Representatives of the embassies of the United States, Russia and Bangladesh are also expected to be present at this year's carnival, according to preliminary information received by the organisers.

A large majority of the major Durga Puja organisers in Agartala and its adjoining areas have registered to participate in the carnival, which brings together puja committees to mark the ceremonial conclusion of the festivities.

As in previous years, the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Agartala Municipal Corporation and other concerned departments have undertaken necessary measures to ensure the event is conducted smoothly and in a disciplined manner.

Departments involved in the preparations include Public Works, Rural Development, Horticulture and Electricity, along with the police and other law enforcement authorities.

The coordinated arrangements are aimed at ensuring the smooth management of the event and enabling people to witness the grand culmination of the Durga Puja celebrations in the state capital.
