Former HC Judge Justice Arindam Lodh named new chairperson of THRC

Agartala, April 30: Former High Court Judge Justice Arindam Lodh has been as the new Chairperson of the Tripura Human Rights Commission (THRC).
The appointment was made official through a notification issued by Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, granting Justice Lodh a three-year term in the state's apex human rights body.
The formal order reads:
"By virtue of the powers vested in me by Sub-section (1) of Section 22 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, I, Shri Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Governor of Tripura, do hereby appoint Hon'ble Mr. Justice Arindam Lodh, Retired Judge, High Court, of Tripura, to be the Chairperson of Tripura Human Rights Commission for a term of three years or until he attains the age of 70 years whichever is earlier with effect from the date of he enters upon his Office."
Justice Lodh, known for his legal acumen and strong stance on constitutional values, retired recently after serving the High Court of Tripura.
His appointment is seen as a move to strengthen the human rights framework in the state, ensuring prompt redressal of grievances and improved institutional accountability.
With this development, the Tripura Human Rights Commission is expected to gain renewed momentum under Justice Lodh’s leadership.
