Agartala, Aug 4: Former Governor of Tripura and eminent educationist Padma Shri Dr. D.Y. Patil (90) passed away on Tuesday following age-related health complications.
Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and several other personalities have expressed deep condolences over the demise of the former Governor.
In a condolence message, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu said, D.Y. Patill will be remembered as a distinguished public servant who discharged his Constitutional responsibilities with dignity, wisdom and an unwavering commitment to democratic values.
During his tenure as the Governor of Tripura, he worked with dedication for the welfare and progress of the state and earned the respect and affection of the people with his humility and gracious conduct.
The Governor further said, the demise of the former Governor is a profound loss to the nation and to all those who had the privilege of associating with him. His legacy of public service and steadfast commitment to the ideals of the Constitution will continue to inspire future generations.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has also expressed deep grief over the passing of Padma Shri Dr. D. Y. Patil, former Governor of Tripura and Bihar, noted educationist, and renowned social worker.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister said that Dr. Patil was a visionary educationist and institution builder. His remarkable contributions to education, healthcare, and public welfare will always be remembered by the people of the country.
