Agartala, Oct 12: Three youths from Tripura, trained under the Mukhya Mantri Dakhyata Unnayan Prakalpa (MMDUP), have secured jobs in Dubai.
They completed their training at the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Agartala, and have been selected by Balmer Lawrie as Machine Operators for its manufacturing operations in Dubai.
The selected candidates are Abhoy Debnath of Chandrapur, Agartal, Sanjit Das of Moharcharra, Teliamura and Ripan Das of Udaipur.
Each of them will start with an average salary of about 265,000 per month. Through performance-based increments, this is expected to rise to about Rs. 96,000 per month after six months, according to a press release.
Training at CIPET Agartala:
The batch was trained in the petrochemical sector at CIPET Agartala under MMDUP, the State Government's skill development scheme implemented through the Directorate of Skill Development.
The programme ran for 80 days and covered 480 hours of intensive instruction. The trainees acquired practical, hands-on skills in machine operation and petrochemical manufacturing, which are the skills employers in this industry look for on the shop floor.
The programme had two aims. The first was to create real employment opportunities for the youth of the State. The second was to equip them with the industry-ready skills needed to take up those opportunities.
A path to employment in India and abroad:
The overseas selections are a matter of pride for the State. They show that a short, focused and industry-linked course can take a young person from a training hall in Agartala to a factory floor abroad within a few months.
They also showed that the youth of Tripura, given the right training and their own commitment, can compete for jobs anywhere in the country and beyond.
Skill training is therefore a practical route to good employment, and not only a certificate. The Directorate encourages young people across the State to make use of the training opportunities available under MMDUP.
The Directorate of Skill Development congratulated all the candidates on their placements.
