Agartala, July 24: Rupaichari ADC village in South Tripura district has redefined the benchmarks of rural development and sustainability. Once hindered by geographic and infrastructural challenges, Rupaichari now stands as a shining example of progressive change.
Manu Bankul under this block is now attracting a good number of visitors everyday with the beautiful Palm oil trees in both sides of the road that connects Mahamani Buddha Vihar.
Previously, Rupaichari faced significant obstacles, with its residents grappling with inadequate access to clean drinking water, leading to recurrent waterborne diseases like diarrhoea. However, the landscape of Rupaichari has dramatically transformed through dedicated efforts from both government agencies and the local communities. Today, it exemplifies comprehensive development, marked by improvements in healthcare, sanitation, and socio-economic conditions.
One of the standout achievements in the area is Bagmara Panchayat, situated approximately 22 kilometers from the heart of Rupaichari. This panchayat has been lauded by the central government as a Carbon Neutral Panchayat, symbolizing its commitment to eco-friendly practices and sustainable living. Bagmara's success is further accentuated by its status as a plastic-free zone, driven by the initiatives of various self-help groups.
In a stride towards holistic health, Rupaichari village has earned the title of "Healthy Village." This recognition underscores the village's focus on the overall well-being of its residents, encompassing physical, mental, and social health aspects. The concerted efforts of local authorities, health departments, and community groups have played a pivotal role in this achievement.
The Rupaichari Primary Health Centre has also gained national acclaim, receiving the National Quality Assurance Assessment Certificate from the Ministry of Health for the 2023-24 period. This prestigious recognition is attributed to the unwavering dedication of Dr. Rahul Das, the medical officer in charge, and his team.
Further plans to enhance the quality of life in Rupaichari are underway, as outlined by Block Development Officer Abhijit Majumder. The recent establishment of a park aims to promote mental well-being, while a new yoga center is set to open soon, encouraging a culture of healthy living.
Rupaichari’s journey from an isolated and struggling village to a beacon of rural advancement and sustainable development serves as an inspiring model for other communities.
