GoI clears TRLM Financial Inclusion plan for FY 2026-27

Agartala, Mar 27: In a significant boost to rural women’s empowerment in Tripura, the Government of India has approved the Financial Inclusion budget under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) for the financial year 2026-27.

The approved outlay is aimed at strengthening financial access and economic security for Self Help Group (SHG) members across the state through insurance coverage, training, livelihood assistance and enhanced credit linkage.

According to the plan, insurance coverage will be ensured for around 4.4 lakh SHG didis, bringing a large number of rural women under protective financial schemes. In addition, nearly 2 lakh SHG members will be provided structured training to improve financial awareness, encourage digital transactions and promote responsible banking practices.

A major highlight of the sanctioned budget is the provision of Rs 40 crore as livelihood support, which will be utilised to assist around 4,000 women SHG members in taking up income-generating activities and strengthening rural entrepreneurship. The financial inclusion roadmap also sets an ambitious target of mobilising Rs 1,000 crore in loan support for about 30,000 rural SHGs, aimed at expanding credit flow and improving access to institutional finance.

Officials said the approval underlines the Centre’s continued focus on strengthening rural livelihoods and ensuring inclusive growth through enhanced financial services and sustainable economic opportunities for women-led SHGs in Tripura.
