Help accident victims, get cash reward of Rs. 25,000 under 'Rah-Veer' Scheme

Agartala, May 03: Tripura Transport minister Sushanta Chowdhury announced that a cash reward of Rs. 25,000 would be given under centrally-sponsored 'Rah-Veer' Scheme for helping accident patients and shifting them to hospital within Golden Hour.

Speaking to the reporters, he said, the central government introduced the scheme to motivate the general public to help the road accident victims in emergency situations and save innocent lives.

According to Chowdhury, the Rah-Veer Scheme replaced the erstwhile 'Good Samaritan' initiative with an increase in the award money. He said, the amount has been increased from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 25,000 to encourage more people.

To get this award, one has to fulfill the criteria, Chowdhury told reporters on the sideline of a review meeting at the conference hall of the State Guest House.

He chaired the meeting with secretary Transport and others officials to review the various activities, development projects and various issues of the Transport department.

Chowdhury said, clear instruction has been given to the officials concerned to ensure timely completion of all the on-going development projects under this department. He said, various projects worth around Rs. 150 crore are being implemented across the State. He also laid emphasis on maintaining quality of the project.

He also said, after introduction of cashless system in the Transport department, revenue Rs. 155 crore was collected. It was the highest ever revenue collection of the department.

The cashless system has not only increased the revenue collection but also ensure more transparency and faster service delivery, he said.

According to the Transport minister, the review meeting focused on strengthening the eChallan system.
