Agartala, Feb 19 — Manik Saha on Thursday stressed the importance of promoting Hindi alongside regional languages, describing it as a vital link for communication and national integration. He said the state is proud to host the Joint Regional Official Language Conference (Rajbhasha Sammelan) for the Northern, Eastern and North Eastern regions at the International Indoor Exhibition Centre in Hapania.
The conference will be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who chose Agartala as the venue for the national-level event. Saha said representatives from multiple regions have arrived and the state is eager to welcome the delegates. Over 3,000 senior officials, experts and representatives from Central government offices, public sector undertakings and banks are expected to participate.
Highlighting Hindi’s role as an accessible and widely understood language, the Chief Minister noted that a majority of people in Tripura can communicate comfortably in Hindi. “Keeping Hindi at the forefront, we aim to unite the country while respecting every regional language. All languages are important and many are rooted in Sanskrit,” he said, expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for promoting linguistic harmony.
Saha also spoke about technological advancement, mentioning his participation in the AI Impact Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. He interacted with foreign delegates, Union Ministers and other Chief Ministers on emerging technologies. Emphasising the Centre’s focus on artificial intelligence, he said AI has been included in the recent Union Budget and will soon be adopted across government departments. “India is poised to emerge as a global AI hub in the coming years,” he added.
