
Agartala, Dec 09: Giving top priority to education, the present Tripura Government is working consistently for the upliftment of all sections, including Janajati communities, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Tuesday.
He said mixed-populated Tripura is witnessing rapid development through multiple welfare schemes, with education placed at the highest priority.
He was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed office building of the Sonamura Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) at a ceremony attended by Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman, Minority Welfare Minister Sukla Charan Noatia, MLAs Tofajjal Hossain and Bindu Debnath, and TTAADC Executive Member Padmalochan Tripura.
Sepahijala District Magistrate & Collector Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal and Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma were present as special guests. The event was presided over by Sipahijala Zilla Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta.
Sepahijala is progressing, leaving behind old stigmas:
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said Sepahijala district has successfully overcome earlier notoriety associated with illegal ganja cultivation and child marriage and is now moving ahead on the path of development. He praised the efforts of the present District Magistrate in transforming the district’s image.
He further informed that along with the new SDM office, 14 major development projects were inaugurated on the same day, and foundation stones were laid for 3 new projects. The newly inaugurated projects involved a total expenditure of around Rs. 50 crore. This reflects the State Government’s positive and proactive approach toward development, he added.
The Chief Minister said the present government is taking continuous steps to solve public grievances, unlike previous governments that “allowed people’s problems to linger.”
Focus on Women Empowerment:
Highlighting the success of self-help groups, Dr. Saha said Tripura now has over 54,000 women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) with 4.76 lakh members, inspired by the vision of the Prime Minister. “Already, 1.08 lakh women in Tripura have become ‘Lakhpati Didis’, which shows how women’s economic empowerment is progressing,” he said.
A historic day for Sepahijala:
Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman said the inauguration of several projects on a single day marks a “historic moment” for epahijala district. “Such a large number of development works being unveiled simultaneously is unprecedented,” he noted, crediting the government’s positive vision.
Minority Welfare Minister Sukla Charan Noatia said the government is giving priority to the development of tribal communities and improving the educational standards of students. He informed that student hostels are being built across the state and budget allocations for pre-matric and post-matric scholarships have been significantly increased.
The Chief Minister virtually inaugurated the projects including New building of Kamalnagar PHC and 10 staff quarters, New OPD complex at Melaghar Sub-Divisional Hospital, 50-bed Minority Girls’ Hostel at Boxanagar, New building of UNC Nagar SB School, Boxanagar, New building of Melaghar English Medium School, New building of Nabadwip Chandra Institution HS School, Block Public Health Units at Boxanagar PHC and Dhanpur PHC, Additional classrooms at Padmalochan Choudhury Para HS School, New building of Nayanjala Gram Panchayat (Boxanagar Block), New building of Khedabari Tehsil Office, New building of Kamrangatli Tehsil Office, New building of Ayushman Arogya Mandir at Purba Nalchar and New building of PM SHRI Sekerkote HS School (West Tripura).
The CM also virtually laid the foundation stones of New Community Health Centre at Kathalia, RCC footbridge over the Gomati River at Kamrangatali and Expansion work of Kamalnagar PHC
The event concluded with strong emphasis on the government’s commitment to strengthening education, healthcare, infrastructure, and community development across Tripura.
