Home Minister to chair meet in Shillong: Tripura CM to discuss special package for ADC

Agartala, July 23: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Friday said that he would personally meet Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Shillong and press for a special package meant for the development of ADC.
“I have already discussed the special package for the development of ADC with the Home Minister and he is positive about it. I have also highlighted the demand before Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Deb told the media before leaving the state for Shillong on Friday.
Meanwhile, on his way to Shillong, the Chief Minister in a tweet has shared some beautiful pictures of Umiam lake in Meghalaya.

According to reports, the Union Home Minister will meet the Chief Ministers, chief secretaries, and DGPs of Northeastern states on July 24 to assess the region's law and order as well as the Covid-19 situation. The meeting will take place at the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Shillong.
“During the meeting, several important issues will be discussed with special focus on internal security, border security and drugs dealing. Our slogan is to make the North East region free of drugs by 2022,” the Chief Minister said.
Meanwhile, Deb during his recent Delhi visit had raised demand for an externally-aided project of Rs. 1,250 crore for the overall development of the tribal population. He had also apprised the Prime Minister that as per suggestion of the central government, a revised proposal of 17 Projects involving Rs.1059.89 Crore for this purpose was submitted to the Centre.
Earlier the state Government had sent a package of Rs. 8802 crore to the Centre for Socio-Economic-Cultural- Linguistic Development of the indigenous section.
