Innovative campaign boosts youth voting spirit in North Tripura

Dharamnagar, April 18: In a bid to make the festival of democracy more vibrant and engaging, the North Tripura district administration has taken an innovative step to encourage first-time and young voters.

Under the initiative of District Magistrate Chandni Chandran, a unique selfie contest was organised, drawing massive participation across the district.

The contest encouraged voters—especially youth—to capture the moment of pride after casting their vote by clicking selfies showing the indelible ink mark on their fingers.

The campaign quickly gained momentum on social media, with hundreds of young voters sharing their photos, spreading the message of voter awareness far and wide.

The initiative received an enthusiastic response, turning the voting process into a celebration of civic responsibility. In a brief yet proud award ceremony held recently, District Magistrate Chandni Chandran felicitated the top five winners and handed over prizes to them.

The winners included Nilanjana Bhattacharjee, Tamashree Sen, Sneha Chowdhury, Amrita Sinha, and Nabajit Das, whose creative participation earned appreciation from all sections of society.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Magistrate said, the primary objective of this initiative was to increase awareness among the younger generation about the importance of voting. Every vote is valuable in a democracy, and such creative efforts help strengthen that message.

She further stated that the contest was not merely an event, but an effective tool to connect the youth with the democratic process. The campaign has been widely praised by citizens as well as various administrative circles.

It may be mentioned that ahead of the by-election in the 56th Assembly Constituency, the district administration has launched several voter awareness programmes, among which the selfie contest has emerged as one of the most successful and talked-about initiatives.

Meanwhile, reliable sources informed that Kaushik Bhowmik Personal Assistant (PA) to the North Tripura District Magistrate, has also composed a special awareness song as part of the election campaign.

He reportedly played an active role in organising the selfie contest under the supervision of District Magistrate and Collector Chandni Chandran.

The creative efforts of the North Tripura district administration have brought joy and enthusiasm among the people.
