Agartala, Aug 27: Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma on Friday heavily came down on unruly activities by a section of Tipra Motha workers and compared it with Talibanism.
In a social media post, Dev Varma wrote, “….Thansa cannot be achieved by Danda”. He also mentioned that Talibanism in society is a negative approach.
Dev Varma’s post was in reference to Tipra Motha’s protests at Herma in Charilam constituency in Sepahijala district on Friday during a joining programme of BJP where around 360 Janajati voters joined the saffron brigade.
Dev Varma alleged, the Tipra Motha workers and supporters tried to block the road, pelted stones, attacked the BJP workers and damaged cars and two wheelers.
“It is most surprising that these people did not even follow instructions from their topmost leader, who asked them to disperse. It raises a question who actually is remote controlling these reckless and rowdy elements,” Dev Varma wrote.
He thanked the BJP karyakartas for their discipline and courage and appreciated the restraint shown by the police even under such provocation.
In the last part of his social media post, Dev Varma mentioned, “Thansa (unity) cannot be achieved by Danda” and Talibanism in society is a negative approach.
