JICA India Mission undertakes field review under Tripura JICA Project- SCATFORM

Agartala, May 12: The JICA India Mission is currently on a three-day visit from 11th to 13th May “26 to Tripura to review the progress of activities being implemented under the Tripura JICA Project (SCATFORM).

The delegation was welcomed on Monday at the Project Management Unit (PMU) by Banumathi G., IFS, CEO & Project Director. The mission delegates include ITO Fumi, Project Formulation Advisor, and Nishtha Vengurlekar, Development Specialist, JICA India.

The delegation held a fruitful meeting with Minister for Forests, Animesh Debbarma wherein various ongoing project activities and interventions under SCATFORM were discussed.

The Minister reportedly sought cooperation from JICA for the sustainable development of forests and forest-dependent communities in the State and emphasized on extensive awareness campaigns.

The JICA India Mission visited Gomati and Sepahijala districts wherein they interacted and SHG and JFMC members under the SCATFORM Project.

The JICA Mission interacted with members of Omlak JFMC, naharmabadal JFMC and visited different plantation sites under the Killa RMU, Gomati DMU. The team also visited the Model-I Check Dam site and participated in the fingerling release programme. Further, honey bee cluster at killa RMU involving  5 JFMC, 12 SHGs targeting 200 beneficiaries.

Further, bee keeping boxes were distributed among beneficiaries, followed by visits to honey cluster villages and interactions with households engaged in apiculture activities supported under the project. The delegation also interacted with members of Sunlight SHG involved in piggery activities and Manthak SHG engaged in fishery-based livelihood interventions.

Later on, JICA mission also visited the Model-III RCC Check Dam site under Induria Beat, Melaghar RMU, and Tarapadabari JFMC and Mushroom Cluster under Charilam RMU, Sepahijala DMU.

Later, in the august presence of PCCF & HoFF, Tripura R K Samal, IFS, Souvenir shop has been inaugurated under the JICA Project at Sepahijala Zoo was inaugurated.

On Wednesday, the JICA India Mission is scheduled to visit the Bamboo Treatment Plant under Subalsingh Bamboo Cluster in West Tripura District. The programme will also include distribution of bamboo jewellery making kits among beneficiaries in collaboration with Tripura Bamboo Mission (TBM). Following the field visit, the delegation will hold a debriefing meeting with the PCCF & HoFF, Tripura, before concluding the visit and returning to New Delhi.
