Jishnu Dev Varma Appointed Governor of Maharashtra

In a significant development, the President of India Droupadi Murmu has approved a series of gubernatorial appointments across several states, including the appointment of senior leader Jishnu Dev Varma as the new Governor of Maharashtra.

According to a press communiqué issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President has accepted the resignation of C. V. Ananda Bose as the Governor of West Bengal.

Among the key appointments, Jishnu Dev Varma, who is currently serving as the Governor of Telangana, has been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra.

Dev Varma, a prominent political figure from Tripura, earlier served as the Deputy Chief Minister of the state and held several important portfolios in the cabinet. His elevation to the gubernatorial post of Maharashtra is being viewed as a significant recognition of his long political and administrative experience.

In other appointments announced by the President, Shiv Pratap Shukla, currently the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, has been appointed as the Governor of Telangana. Nand Kishore Yadav has been appointed Governor of Nagaland, while Syed Ata Hasnain, a retired Lieutenant General, has been appointed Governor of Bihar.

Further, R. N. Ravi, Governor of Tamil Nadu, has been appointed as Governor of West Bengal, while Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, currently Governor of Kerala, will discharge the functions of Governor of Tamil Nadu.

Additionally, Kavinder Gupta, Lt. Governor of Ladakh, has been appointed Governor of Himachal Pradesh. Vinai Kumar Saxena, Lt. Governor of Delhi, will serve as Lt. Governor of Ladakh, while Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been appointed as the Lt. Governor of Delhi.

The communiqué stated that all the appointments will take effect from the dates the appointees assume charge of their respective offices.
