LF candidates for ADC elections, by-poll declared

Agartala, Mar 10: Stepping up preparations ahead of the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), the Left Front on Monday unveiled its list of candidates. The Left Front also declared its nominee for the impending by-election to the Dharmanagar Assembly constituency.

Interestingly, the Left Front has announced the candidates before the announcement of the elections.

The announcement was made by Left Front convenor Manik Dey at a press briefing in the presence of CPI(M) state secretary and leader of opposition Jiten Chaudhury.

Dey said the candidate list was finalised during a meeting of the Left Front committee after extensive deliberations. He emphasized that the ADC elections would play a decisive role in shaping the future of governance and development in the tribal areas of the state.

For the Dharmanagar Assembly by-election, the Left Front has fielded CPI(M) leader Amitabha Datta as its candidate.

The Left front also released the names of candidates for the TTAADC elections.

Those nominated include Barendra Reang (Damcherra–Jampui), Ramakanta Nath (Kanchanpur), Sadhan Chakma (Karamcherra), Badarbhum Halam (Demcherra–Kachucherra), Khusiram Tripura (Chawmanu), Rahul Das (Manu), Sumati Ranjan Chakma (Raima Valley), Dhanchamani Reang (Gandacherra–Ganganagar), Karim Debbarma (Asharambari–Halahali), Atul Debbarma (Kulai–Chamlahaur), Ratan Kishore Jamatia (Teliamura–Maharani), Samaresh Debbarma (Ramchandraghat), Surya Debbarma (Mandwi–Pulinpur), Radhacharan Debbarma (Jirania), Amulya Debbarma (Simna–Tamakari), Sanjit Debbarma (Budhjung Nagar–Waki Nagar), Brajalal Debbarma (Pekuarjola–Janmejoy Nagar), Benilal Debbarma (Takajola–Jampuijala), Brinda Debbarma (Amtali–Gholaghati), Amrita Sadhan Jamatia (Bagma), Magendra Reang (Natun Bazar–Malbasa), Prithwiraj Koloi (Ompi), Parikshit Murasingh (Kathalia–Mirza–Rajapur), Barjung Tripura (Purba Muhuripur–Bhuratali) and Uchathoi Mog (Silacharri–Manu Bankul).

Among the Left Front partners, the Machmara seat has been allotted to the All India Forward Bloc (AIFB), with the candidate to be announced later. CPI’s Narendra Reang has been nominated from the Birchandra–Kalashi constituency, while the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) has fielded Haradhan Jamatia from Maharani–Chellagang.
