Lightning kills one, leaves seven injured in Tripura

Agartala, May 06: One person died and seven others were injured after lightning strike hit Laljuri Gram Panchayat area of Laljuri Gram Panchayat area under Unakoti district on Tuesday.
Goutam Roy (29), a resident of ward no-1 of Laljuri area, and several others were hit by the lightning. While Roy died on the spot, seven others suffered injuries.
The injured persons- Tapan Shil, Nepal Gope, Bikas Majumder, Anupam Bhattacharjee, Indrajit Deb, Subhash Das and Nabyendu Bikas Paul were taken to Kanchanbari primary health centre.
Reports indicate that at the time of the mishap, some victims were engaged in their work, while others were either inside their homes or seeking shelter under trees as a storm swept through the area.
Among the injured, the conditions of Tapan Shil and Nepal Gope have been described as critical. Both have been referred to the Unakoti District Hospital for advanced care.
Expressing his condolences, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das took to social media to offer heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family, praying for the departed soul’s peace. He also conveyed his hopes for the swift recovery of those injured and assured that they are receiving appropriate medical treatment.
Local authorities have stepped in to support the affected families, ensuring that necessary aid and assistance are being provided during this difficult time.
