LS poll results: ECI appoints 31 counting observers in Tripura, says CEO

Agartala, June 01: As the marathon Lok Sabha election season concluded with the final phase of polling on Saturday, the countdown for the vote counting has begun. The Election Commission has set June 4 as the date for counting votes nationwide, including in Tripura.

On this day, Tripura will also witness the counting of votes for the Ramnagar by-polls. The state is set to elect two new Members of Parliament (MPs) from the West Tripura and East Tripura Lok Sabha constituencies, while the Ramnagar assembly segment will elect a new MLA.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Tripura Puneet Agarwal announced in a press conference on Saturday that the counting will take place in 20 locations across the state, starting at 8 AM. Specifically, the West Tripura Parliamentary Constituency will have counting in 7 locations, and the East Tripura Parliamentary Constituency will have counting in 15 locations, with a total of 60 counting halls between them.

Agarwal assured that all necessary preparations have been made for a smooth counting process. Each counting center will have a media center where journalists can keep their mobile phones, while CCTV coverage will monitor the counting halls, strong rooms, and corridors.

A three-tier security arrangement will be in place at each center, and no cameras, except official ones, will be permitted inside the counting halls.

The CEO also noted that 31 counting observers have been appointed by the Election Commission of India to oversee the process in Tripura. Election results will be updated in real-time on the official ECI website and the voter helpline app.

Agarwal called for public cooperation to ensure the peaceful conduct of the counting process. He was joined at the press conference by Additional CEOs Usha Jen Mog and Subhashis Bandopadhyay.
