Agartala, Apr 08: Two parliamentary constituencies- West Tripura and East Tripura (ST reserved) are all set to go to polls on April 19 and 26 respectively.
While the Election machineries are taking necessary steps for smooth conduct of the elections, the political parties including BJP are campaigning hard to impress the voters.
In the ensuing Lok Sabha polls, a total of 28,60,287 voters in Tripura are enrolled to exercise their democratic rights, according to an official report.
In West Tripura, the total number of electorates is 16,63,526—7,34,133 males, 7,29,337 females and 56 third genders. Similarly, a total of 13,96,761 voters are there in East Tripura parliamentary seat including 7,02,511 males, 6,94,237 females and 13 third genders.
The report also mentioned, the total number of 85+ voters in both the Lok Sabha seats is 18,538—7437 males and 11,101 females. Besides, the state has 19,225 PwD voters.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has taken various initiatives to increase maximum participation of voters in the upcoming festival of democracy.
Besides, initiatives are being taken to ensure zero violence. As part of such efforts, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Tripura will launch ‘Mission Violence Free Election 2024’ at PRTI, A.D. Nagar on Monday.
Awareness programmes on Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) are taking place in various parts of the state. The campaigns in digital mode with the hashtags like #ChunavKaParv, #MeraPehlaVoteDeshKeLiye are also going on with a special focus on the first-time voters.
Meanwhile, General Observer to 2-East Tripura (ST) Parliamentary Constituency Bhaskar Katamaneni visited SDM Office, Teliamura on Sunday to review election preparedness at ARO level and gave his valuable observations.
