MGNREGA: 437.23 lakh mandays generated in Tripura in 2020-21

Agartala, Aug 12: As many as 437.23 lakh person days were generated under MGNREGA in Tripura during 2020-21.

Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Verma mentioned it in a chart of achievements under MGNREGA in Tripura released from his official Facebook handle recently.

As per the post, the state had generated 253.09 lakh person days (average 46) during 2018-19, 344.02 lakh (average 61) during 2019-20 and 437.23 lakh person days (average 75) during 2020-21.

The Deputy Chief Minister also claimed that Timely payment of wages under MGNREGA has significantly improved over the past three years.

“Timely payment of wages has improved from 84.4 percent in 2017-18 to 98.24 percent in 2020-21,” the Deputy Chief Minister wrote.

According to the social media post, Tripura’s work completion rate is 99.16 percent which is above the national average of 85.62 percent for the works taken up to 2020-21.

The Deputy Chief Minister also wrote, “five among the twelve aspirational blocks achieved more than 100 person days on an average, four blocks achieved average 90 mandays and the remaining three blocks registered above 80 person days on an average.

Raishyabari among the aspirational blocks generated the highest 121 person days followed by Dumburnagar (113 mandays), Chawmanu (111.78 mandays), Ganganagar (107.15 mandays) and Mugiakami (104 person days).

Importantly, the Deputy Chief Minister’s Facebook post also mentioned that a REGA job card holder used to get only 34 mandays on an average in 2017-18 but now the average person days had increased to 75. The state also provided the second highest average (75) person days to a household having a MGNREGA job card in the country in the Financial Year 2020-21.
