MGNREGA: Over 2.75 cr mandays generated in Tripura, says official

Agartala, Jan 08: Special Secretary of Rural Development department Sandeep R Rathod said that over 2.75 crore mandays under MGNREGA were generated in Tripura so far.
Addressing a recent press conference, he said, 2 crore 75 lakh 13 thousand mandays have been generated across the state and Rs. 829 crore has been spent from the Department of Rural Development.
The Special Secretary said, 72.721 percent of work in this programme is related to agriculture and farming. He informed that Rs. 2264 crore have been spent in the financial year 2021-22 under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Rural.
Through this scheme, construction of toilets, electricity connection, LPG connection, water tap connection etc. are provided to several houses in the rural areas of the state. So far, 1.87 lakh houses have been provided this facility.
The Special Secretary also said, 3,60,539 rural women have been involved in 40,352 Self Help Groups (SHGs) under Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission from 2018 to 2022 to improve the socio-economic status of women in the state.
So far, a total of Rs 601.59 crore bank loans have been disbursed to women associated with Self-Help Groups. He also said that different awards were given by the state government for the success of Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission.
These awards include National Award for Outstanding Financial Performance in 2018-19, National Award for Capacity Building Programme in 2019-20, Programme Implementation Award for North Eastern States and Hill States in 2019 etc.
Nodal Officer of the department Sumit Majumdar and Under Secretary Sudipta Biswas were also present at the press conference.
