Minor student’s death in Ashram, Maharaj among two arrested in Tripura
Agartala, Feb 19: Two persons including Maharaj of Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashram at Madhuban under Amtali police station in Tripura were arrested in connection with mysterious death of a minor student.
The arrested persons- Swami Mrityunjay Nanda (87) and Haricharan Malakar (52) were produced before the court, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Amtali police station Prajit Malakar.
He said, the arrests were made after Manasha Das, mother of the deceased- Joy Das, filed a specific complaint against the duo on Sunday.
The body of the minor student was recovered from the toilet of the Ashram on Friday night. The 11-year-old student of the Ashram had gone missing on Friday evening and his hanging body was recovered on the same night.
When the incident came to light, the local people alleged that the Maharaj and the other person used to torture inmates of the Ashram on regular basis. (Courtesy: Tripura Times)
