Model school in every block planned, says Tripura CM

Agartala, Sept 12: A plan has been taken to develop one model school in every block under the PM Shri scheme, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Tuesday.
He also said, under PM Shri and Vidyajyoti projects, 400 government schools would be modernized. Besides, an amount of Rs. 2000 crore would be spent for development of educational infrastructure in the next two years.
The Chief Minister was addressing the Platinum Jubilee celebration of Sekerkote Higher Secondary School and Alumni Meet. At the beginning, he inspected the blood donation camp and health camp organized as part of the programme.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister advised the teachers to teach the children through play, apart from the conventional teaching-learning process. He also stressed on encouraging the students to sports activities along with studies for a complete development.
“Apart from conventional teaching, teachers have an important role to play in developing the students mentally. Teachers should be more responsible in teaching children through play up to primary level and encouraging the students to sports activities in addition to studies,” he said.
He said, the National Education Policy which has been introduced following sincere efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being implemented in the state. The NEP would reduce mental stress of the students, he said.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the major initiatives taken by the present state government to develop the education system.
MLA Antara Sarkar Deb, Director of Secondary Education N.C. Sharma, Headmaster of the school Santosh Kumar Roy Chowdhury and other dignitaries were present.
The students of the school developed a model of Vikram lander (Chandrayaan 3) and presented it before the Chief Minister. The innovative idea of the students was appreciated by the Chief Minister and others present at the event. The programme started with the traditional Hojagiri dance.
