Morphine worth Rs 18 lakh seized during joint ops in Tripura

Agartala, May 21: Security agencies achieved another breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking after a joint operation led to the seizure of morphine valued at around Rs 18 lakh in Tripura's capital on Wednesday.
The operation was jointly carried out by Assam Rifles and the Customs Department in the railway station area under West Tripura district. Acting on specific inputs, the joint team conducted a search operation that resulted in the recovery of 180 grams of morphine.
Officials said one person, identified as Arun Kumar Chakma, was detained during the raid in connection with the seizure.
Following the operation, the seized narcotics and the detained individual were handed over to the Customs authorities for further investigation and necessary legal action.
Security forces have intensified anti-drug operations across Tripura as part of ongoing efforts to curb the movement and trafficking of narcotic substances in the region. Officials reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against those involved in illegal drug networks.
