Agartala, Sept 24: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed national secretary Mriganka Deo Barman as the party’s new Prabhari (in-charge) for Tripura, replacing Dr Rajdeep Roy.

In another key appointment, Tripura West Lok Sabha MP and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has been given charge of Madhya Pradesh as the state Prabhari. Deb was recently elevated to the position of BJP national general secretary.

The organisational changes were announced by BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Thursday as part of a reshuffle of the party’s state-level responsibilities.

Barman will now oversee the BJP’s affairs in Tripura, where the party is preparing for the next Assembly election scheduled for 2028.

The latest appointments came at a time when the BJP is strengthening its organisational structure in the states ahead of upcoming electoral challenges. 

For Tripura, Barman’s appointment marks a change in the party’s central leadership responsible for coordinating its organisational activities in the state.

Deb, meanwhile, will take on the responsibility of overseeing the party's affairs in Madhya Pradesh in his new role.
