National Water Award presented to Tripura’s Dhalai district, best in NE Zone category

Agartala, Oct 22: In a proud moment for Tripura, the Dhalai district has been honored with the National Water Award (second position) in the Best District of Northeast zone category.
The recognition comes as a testament to the district's outstanding efforts in sustainable water management and conservation.
The award was presented by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at a ceremony held in New Delhi on Tuesday. Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, IAS, accepted the award, highlighting significant achievements that include the construction of recharge structures, geo-tagging of water bodies, creation of check dams, and the ambitious planting of over 4.1 million bamboo trees to improve water conservation and groundwater recharge.
Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, extended his congratulations to the residents of Dhalai, the district administration, and all stakeholders involved in this achievement. He lauded their collective efforts in transforming the district’s water management landscape and setting an example for other regions to follow.
The 5th edition of National Water Awards aim to promote awareness about water conservation and encourage the adoption of best practices in water usage. 
According to the Rashtrapati Bhavan's press release, this year’s awards spanned nine categories-- Best State, Best District, Best Village Panchayat, Best Urban Local Body, and more, recognizing outstanding contributions across various sectors towards sustainable water management.
