Agartala, Sept 22: With the objective of enhancing professional skill and teaching quality to effect holistic development of students, a five-day training camp for the school teachers has started from today at the indoor hall of Hapania International Fair Ground. 

Director of NCERT Prof. Dinesh Prasad Saklani inaugurated the training programme organized by the NECERT in association with SCERT under the National Institute for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA) programme. 

Prof. Saklani inaugurated the training programme by pressing a button. The secretary of school education department Dr. Milind Ramteke was also present at the event. 

Addressing the event NCERT Director said the National Education Policy (NEP) has created a new and significant outlook in the education system of the country. 

He said the teachers attending this training have a crucial role to play for proper implementation of the NEP. In remote locations students integrate themselves with the nature and environment to gain knowledge. The prime objective of education is to encourage that natural creativity in the students. 

He also stressed that regular review and getting responses from the learners is essential to make any educational programme. He believed that views of the participants in this workshop will further enrich this programme. 

School education secretary Dr. Milind Ramteke said this workshop has given special emphasis on primary school education and school education. At present Tripura stands at the third position in terms of literacy in the country. He expressed hope that this workshop would play a significant role in enhancing the teachers’ professional skill. 

Welcome address was delivered by SCERT director L. Darlong. 

Prof. Ranjana Arora, the head of DCS&D, NCERT, deliberated in detail on the NISHTHA programme. Prof. Sarad Sinha, NCERT’s DTE head was present as guest of honour. A short documentary on NISHTHA was screened at the event.
