New BJP MLA takes oath in Tripura, CM greets

Agartala, June 19: Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder was sworn-in as the Member of Tripura Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.
Speaker of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, Bishwabandhu Sen, administered the oath of office to newly elected MLA from Ramnagar assembly segment Dipak Majumder in the assembly lobby in the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and other dignitaries.
The Chief Minister congratulated Majumder after he took the oath.
The 7-Ramnagar assembly constituency became vacant due to the untimely demise of the sitting MLA Surajit Dutta. Later, the BJP fielded Mayor Dipak Majumder as the candidate, and he won the by-election held on April 19 last.
The Chief Minister said, “It is indeed a day of happiness. Everyone’s favourite Mayor Dipak Majumder, who won the by-election from the 7-Ramnagar Assembly Constituency by a huge margin, has become an MLA. He came to the Assembly today and took the oath as MLA. I congratulate him, and in the coming days, the assembly will be more prosperous with his presence and his help.”
Deputy Speaker Ramprasad Pal, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Assembly Chief Whip Kalyani Saha Roy, other members of the Cabinet, and MLAs were present.
