New Border Haat set to come up in Tripura's Kamalpur

Agartala, Nov 10: If everything goes as per the plan, a new Border Haat will soon be seen functioning in Kamalpur of Dhalai district.
A bipartite meeting between the officials of India and Bangladesh was held on the proposed Border Haat at Kamalpur.
The meeting was held in the Bangladesh part near pillar no- 1903 of Indo-Bangla international border at Sonarai in Kamalpur on Tuesday.
Additional District Magistrate of Dhalai district- Mosalemuddin Ahmed from Indian side and Additional DM of Moulvibazar district- Rumana Yasmin from the Bangladesh side were present.
According to a government press release, the proposed Border Haat will be set up near Gate no- 134 on 1.36 acre land in the Indian side and another 1.36 acre land in the Bangladesh side.
The new Border Haat will allow 50 vendors and 150 buyers each from both the countries. A vendor will be allowed to sell products of maximum 200 dollars. The proposed Border Haat will remain open on every Tuesday from 11 am to 2.30 pm. Total 18 products including fish and dry fish will be allowed for sale.
The Government of India sanctioned Rs. 5 crore for implementation of the Border Haat project and the fund would be spent through Tripura Industrial Development Corporation (TIDC), the release said.
The new Border Haat will have a Common Facilitation Centre, one conference hall, one medical unit and a bankers’ room for exchange of currencies. Besides, separate toilets for male and female will be there.
A Joint Border Haat Management Committee has been formed for smooth functioning of the Border Haat. The Addl. DM of Dhalai district and the Addl. DM of Moulvibazar have been made joint chairman of the committee.
