Senior IPS officer Amitabh Ranjan, who has been appointed as the Director General of Police and Head of Police Force in Tripura, has taken over the charge on Thursday.

The official notification regarding appointment of the Indian Police Service officer of 1988 batch as DGP, Tripura has been issued on Thursday.

Amitabh Ranjan, who served as Special Director, Intelligence Bureau before being appointed as Tripura police chief, has replaced V.S. Yadav.

“Consequent upon repatriation from central deputation and in the interest of public service, the Governor is pleased to appoint Shri Amitabh Ranjan, IPS (TR 1988) as Director General of Police, Tripura and Head of Police Force, Tripura in the IPS Apex Scale at the level 17 of the Pay Matrix with effect from the date he takes over the charge and until further order,” the notification said.
