NIA conducts raids in Tripura

Agartala, Nov 12: In a coordinated crackdown on suspected document forgery, a team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Guwahati Branch, alongside Tripura Police, launched a targeted raid across multiple locations in Unakoti District during the early hours of Wednesday. The operation commenced around 3 a.m., drawing attention to a suspected racket involving forged documents.

Authorities have identified two individuals as central figures in the ongoing probe: Paritosh Shil, 45, son of Putul Chandra Shil, resident of Bhagyapur, Ward No. 03, under Kailashahar Police Station and Ranu Pal, 42, resident of the Nidevi area under Kumarghat Police Station.

As per sources, preliminary findings suggest both individuals may have been involved in the fabrication and circulation of fake documents. However, no arrests have been made as of now. The search operations are continuing under the close supervision of senior officials from both the NIA and Tripura Police.

In response to media reports, the Office of the Director General of Police, Government of Tripura, issued a press release on Wednesday clarifying the nature of the operation. The statement emphasized that the NIA’s search was part of an ongoing investigation linked to an older case. Tripura Police extended full logistical and manpower support to facilitate the operation.

Authorities are expected to intensify the investigation in the coming days to uncover the full scope of the alleged forgery network.
