Agartala, Aug 02: There is no possibility of any alliance between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and CPI-M in 2023 assembly polls of Tripura, said TMC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee but he kept the door open to welcome the leaders or supporters coming from any other parties.
According to Banerjee, Tripura is now a "challenge" for the Trinamool Congress. He hinted that few political leaders already held meeting with TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee and some others also had talks over telephone.
“Some political leaders from Tripura are already in touch with the TMC but we don’t want to break the incumbent government now.We are here to form the government to restore democracy,” Banerjee told a press conference in Agartala on Monday.
Seeking the attention of the people, he said, “Trinamool Congress would form the government in Tripura in the next one and half years (2023) to restore democracy.”
Banerjee announced that he would again visit the state in next 10-15 days and declare the full-fledged state committee of the party.
He also stated that all booths in the state would have full-fledged committees by the end of this year. The TMC supremo would visit the state very soon, he added.
Banerjee, who arrived in the city on a one-day trip on Monday, alleged that his convoy had come under attack of the BJP workers on his way to Tripura Sundari temple in Udaipur of Gomati district on Monday.
Strongly condemning the incident, he said that law and order had totally collapsed in the state.
“If an MP faces such attacks, it evidently shows that the common people of the state are not safe,” Banerjee told the press conference in a hotel of Agartala.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress virtually rejected the demand of Tipraland or Greater Tipraland.
In this context, he said, “the TMC doesn’t believe in the politics of division. We will go for inclusive politics.” He, however, kept the window open for discussions with the regional parties.
Apart from Banerjee, the press conference was attended by some other TMC leaders- Subal Bhowmik and Ashish Lal Singh of Tripura and Bratya Basu, Moloy Ghotok, Ritabrata Banerjee, and youth leaders including Debangshu Bhattacharyya from West Bengal.
