One held in Tripura for leaking recruitment exam’s answer key

Agartala, June 09: A day after postponement of recruit examination in Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), Tripura Police on Sunday arrested a person in connection with ‘leaked’ answer key.

The arrest was made based on a complaint lodged by the board member of the exam for recruiting Sub-Zonal Officers and Deputy Principal Officers for TTAADC.

The police complaint stated that the answer key for the competitive examination, which was scheduled on June 9, was ‘leaked’. The TTAADC authority in a press conference earlier on Saturday deferred the examination.

On Sunday, West Agartala police detained Chayan Saha, a 42-year-old Xerox shop owner and resident of Advisor Chowmuhani in Agartala, and initiated a probe into the incident. The question paper and answer key were given to Saha’s shop by the Board Chairman Data Mohan Jamatia for making photocopies.

The FIR was lodged against two persons– Sujoy Ghosh and Chayan Saha, police said.

Officer in-charge of the West Agartala Police Station Paritosh Das confirmed the arrest of Chayan Saha, who is among the two FIR named persons. Police is searching for the other accused Sujoy Ghosh, he said.

Meanwhile, founder of TIPRA Motha party Pradyot Kishore Debbarman on Sunday wrote to the Director General of Police and sought his intervention seeking an impartial inquiry into the incident.

“It is imperative that the culprits responsible for this unethical act are identified and brought to justice at the earliest. The culprits have not only compromised the integrity of the examination process but have also shattered the trust of thousands of aspirants in the fairness of the recruitment process,” the letter reads.

He stated, “Such incidents not only undermine the efforts of deserving candidates but also cast a shadow of doubt on the credibility of the entire examination system. Hence, the prompt resolution of this issue is crucial to restoring the faith of the public in the examination process and ensuring that such incidents do not recur in the future.”
