Pediatric Cardiology OPD launched at AGMC & GBP Hospital

Agartala, May 18: Agartala Government Medical College & GBP Hospital has launched a Pediatric Cardiology Outpatient Department (OPD) at its Super Speciality Block, marking a major step toward strengthening advanced healthcare services for children in the state.

The OPD service was formally inaugurated on May 16, 2026 by Health Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Kiran Gitte.

The newly launched facility is expected to play a crucial role in providing advanced diagnosis and treatment for children suffering from heart-related ailments. Officials said the initiative would further consolidate pediatric super speciality healthcare services under AGMC and GBP Hospital and improve access to modern cardiac care for children in Tripura.

According to hospital authorities, the Pediatric Cardiology OPD will officially provide services on Saturdays.

Among those present during the inauguration ceremony were AGMC Principal Prof. Dr. Tapan Majumdar, Medical Superintendent and Head of Department Dr. Bidhan Goswami, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr. Kanak Chowdhury, cardiologists Dr. Anindya Sundar Trivedi and Dr. Rakesh Das, along with heads of departments and faculty members from various departments of the hospital.

Officials described the launch of the Pediatric Cardiology OPD as a significant milestone in Tripura’s healthcare sector and a reflection of the government’s commitment to providing integrated and modern cardiac treatment facilities for children in the state.
