
Agartala, Dec 29: Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Civil Supplies Prahlad Joshi, who concluded his two-day Tripura visit on Sunday, said PM-Kusum scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is empowering everyone with solar energy– ensuring reliable water, reducing electricity costs, and boosting incomes.
He made this remark after inspecting renewable energy site at Charilam in Sepahijala district, where he review the implementation of key schemes pertaining to this sector.
He inspected the 27 SPV Pumps installed under PM-KUSUM Scheme and 35 SPV Street Lighting Systems.
These initiatives have resulted in double cropping and doubling farmers' incomes in the region, Joshi said.
He then interacted with the beneficiaries and listened to their views.
"Beneficiaries are witnessing real change with brighter homes, fuller lives, and smiles that reflect true progress," he commented.
Solar power under PM-KUSUM scheme is ensuring steady water and reduced electricity costs, he mentioned.
The Union Minister also asked the local administration to undertake awareness initiative so that more people can benefit from these schemes.
Meanwhile, the Union Minister also visited Mata Tripurasundari Temple in Udaipur.
He was accompanied by state Finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy, MLA Abhishek Debroy, District Magistrate, Gomati- Tarit Kanti Chakma and several others.
The District Magistrate gave a brief presentation of the on-going works at Matabari Temple under PRASAD scheme, which is on the verge of completion.
The Union Minister also listened to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat programme along with the local people at Chandrapur in Udaipur.
