Portfolios allocated to new Tripura minister

Just over a week after taking the oath of office, Tripura’s new cabinet minister Kishore Barman has been assigned his portfolios on Friday.

Barman will now take charge of three important departments that were previously held by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.

As per a notification issued by Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha on Friday, the new minister has been allocated the crucial departments of Higher Education, Panchayat, and General Administration (Political).

The formal notification states that the allocation of ministerial responsibilities was made with immediate effect, following the advice of the Chief Minister.

The assignment of these key portfolios to Barman marks the official beginning of his ministerial duties in the new cabinet.

Soon after allocation of charge, Barman paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. According to Barman, he was given important advice by the Chief Minister for proper functioning of the three departments.

Earlier on the day, the minister held important discussions with the secretaries and other officials of the three departments in the Secretariat.

Several MLAs and party leaders greeted Barman on allocation of charges on Friday.
