Preparing Tripura’s financial roadmap for next 5 years, 6th FC team conducts district tour

A delegation of the 6th State Finance Commission visited South Tripura district on Tuesday as part of its on-going review process for future financial planning in the state.

A high-level meeting chaired by Commission’s Chairman Abhishek Singh was held at the conference hall of Belonia Circuit House to discuss developmental priorities for both rural and urban areas.

In the meeting, public representatives discussed various developmental initiatives, schemes, and the need for adequate financial allocations.

They highlighted issues related to infrastructure in the three urban bodies—such as roads, drinking water, and drainage—and stressed the importance of enhancing internal revenue generation in all panchayats.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, the Chairman said, “The objective of the meeting is to prepare a financial roadmap for the next five years, ensuring that the state’s collected revenue is fairly allocated for the development of both rural and urban areas.”

He further mentioned that the Commission is actively engaging with elected representatives to gather practical suggestions for equitable development.

During the meeting, Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Dipak Dutta submitted a detailed memorandum to the Chairman, listing demands and proposals aimed at boosting the district’s development.

South Tripura District Magistrate Md. Sajjad P, Commission’s Member Secretary Akinchan Sarkar, Director of Urban Development Megha Jain, Director of Panchayat Department Prasun De, chairpersons of Belonia and Santirbazar Municipal Councils, chairperson of Sakram Nagar Panchayat, block advisory committee chairpersons, and several panchayat and village committee representatives.
