Present govt ensured land rights to tea works in Tripura: Education minister

Agartala, Sept 03: The present government in Tripura ensured land rights to the tea garden workers under Mukhyamantri Cha Shramik Kalyan Prakalpa, said Education minister Ratanlal Nath.
Nath said this after flagging-off a ‘Run for Tea’ organized by Tripura Tea Board with the assistance of Tea Board of Indian in Agartala city on Saturday.
The Run for Tea started from the corner near Birchandra State Central Library and covered TRTC, Tulsibati School, Kaman Chowmuni, Post Office Chowmuni and ended at the tea corner.
Speaking to the media, the Education minister said, the government aims at achieving overall development of the poor section of the society while the Tripura Tea Development Corporation is working towards strengthening state’s economy by increasing the tea production.
Mukhyamantri Cha Shramik Kalyan Prakalp is a positive step towards socio-economic development of the tea garden workers of the state. The scheme would ensure land to live and other facilities- drinking water, power connection, lavatories and housing under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to the tea workers, he said.
Minister for Information and Cultural Affairs Sushanta Chowdhury, who took part in the ‘Run for Tea’ event said, quality tea is being produced in the state presently. The government and the TTDC are both working for the welfare of the tea industry and tea gardens workers in the state.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, Chairman of Tripura Tea Development Corporation Santosh saha, Special Secretary of Industries and Commerce department Abhishek Chandra, Executive Officer of Northeast Zonal office, Tea Board of India- Arunita Phukan Yadav, Director of ICA department Ratan Biswas and officials of different departments also participated in the event.
