Agartala, Jan 25: On the occasion of Republic Day, the Ministry of Home Affairs has awarded seven police personnel and two Home Guards from Tripura.

Tripura ADGP (Law & order) Saurabh Tripathi has been awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, according to an official release.

Six other policemen- Bhanupada Chakraborty, SP (SC and EO), Amal Debbarma, Asst. Commandant of 13th-Bn TSR, Kamal Sukla Das, DSP (Security), Hemnat Bist (Subedar-GD), Mandira Bardhan, (Subeda- GD) and Asis Kumar Das, Sub-Inspector, North Tripura have been awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

As per the official release, a total of 901 Police personnel have been awarded Police Medals on the occasion of the Republic Day, 2023. The Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) has been awarded to 140, the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) to 93 and Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM) has been awarded to 668.

Besides, two Home Guards- Ataur Rahman and Swapna Dutta (Marak) would receive Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal.
