In a major step towards strengthening healthcare services, the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) of GBP Hospital has decided to arrange outsourced diagnostic tests free of cost for patients covered under government health schemes.
The decision came during an RKS governing body meeting held at the AGMC Council Hall on Monday, chaired by MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, who also heads the RKS.
According to the decision, a separate counter will be opened to facilitate outsourced diagnostic tests—currently unavailable at the hospital—at no cost for beneficiaries of schemes such as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana, Priority Group, Antyodaya, and BPL categories.
Alongside this, the meeting also cleared plans to upgrade the Central Laboratory of AGMC with advanced testing facilities, ensuring quicker and more efficient medical services.
The committee further approved the urgent procurement of medicines for Trauma Care, Emergency Medicine, and Paediatrics departments using the National Health Mission’s untied fund.
In addition, ten civil service volunteers will be stationed at the “May I Help You” desk to guide patients and families. To enhance patient convenience, the hospital will soon introduce suggestion and complaint boxes across multiple locations, allowing attendants to provide feedback directly.
The meeting was attended by Vice-Chairman of RKS Dr. Ashok Sinha, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of Health Services Dr. Tapan Majumdar, Medical Superintendent Dr. Shankar Chakraborty, Principal of AGMC Dr. Anup Kumar Saha, and corporators- Tushar Kanti Bhattacharjee and Hiralal Debnath.
The Health Department, in an official release, said these measures are part of a broader effort to improve patient care and service delivery at Tripura’s prime referral healthcare facility.
