The Tripura government has taken several initiatives with the aim of transforming Agartala Government Dental College into one of the premier educational institutions in Northeast India, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Thursday.
He said, works worth nearly Rs. 200 crore are underway for infrastructure development and modernization of the Dental College.
Dr. Saha said this while chairing the governing body meeting of the Rogi Kalyan Samity of Agartala Government Dental College and IGM Hospital at the college's conference hall.
The Chief Minister highlighted the government's success in starting academic activities at the college in a short span of time. He emphasized the importance of proper planning in the construction of new college buildings, continuous monitoring of teaching infrastructure, and maintaining cleanliness across the hospital premises.
The ongoing development includes the construction of hostels and other key infrastructure projects.
Dr. Saha also advised maintaining a robust monitoring system to ensure the quality of teaching infrastructure and sought updates on the various activities of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti. He instructed the concerned officials to ensure quality healthcare services at IGM Hospital and to prioritize the safety and comfort of patients’ family members.
The Chief Minister stressed on building reputation of the Dental College from the beginning. In this regard, he asked all concerned to work seriously and sincerely. He also hinted at appointing a chairman of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti.
In the meeting, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte provided a detailed overview of initiatives under Ayushman Bharat, the National Protection Mission, and other activities of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti.
At the end of the meeting, the Chief Minister held an informal interaction with the faculty members of the Dental College. He urged them to continue working with dedication for the bright future of the institution.
Among others present at the meeting were Dr. Tapan Majumdar, Director-in-Charge of the Health Department; Dr. Shalu Roy, Principal of Agartala Government Dental College; Kishor Sarkar, Assistant Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation; Ajit Kumar Debbarma, Superintendent Engineer of the PWD; and several members of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti.
