Rs 2,500 Cr Plan funded by ADB to boost Tripura ULBs: CM

Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that in the next three years, work in 20 urban bodies will be undertaken, funded by the ADB, with a budget allocation of Rs 2,500 crore.

He said that the development of all villages and towns in the state is one of the main goals of the present state government.

"This government has given great importance to solving the basic problems of the people," he said.

Dr. Saha said this while inaugurating the development and beautification of the pond adjacent to the Nagerjala bus stand under Town No. 8 Bardowali Assembly Constituency today.

"The present government wants to complete all work within a specific time frame. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working towards building a Viksit Bharat, and we are working towards building a Viksit Tripura. Our state is no less than the rest of India in terms of progress across various parameters. The Prime Minister recently visited Odisha and highlighted the development of Tripura," said Dr. Saha.

He said that despite being the third smallest state in the country, development is taking place here.

"We work as per the Prime Minister's guidance. Our government is a responsible one, working for development in all sectors—from roads to drinking water. Since taking charge in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given special importance to the development of the North Eastern region. He introduced the HIRA model. As a result, from national highways to internet connectivity, railways, and airways, there has been tremendous progress," said Dr. Saha.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has allocated Rs 653.40 crore in the financial year 2022–23, Rs 835.19 crore in 2023–24, and Rs 1,187.44 crore in 2024–25 for the development of 20 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). The Chief Minister also said that the state's budget is steadily increasing.

"Initiatives have been taken to construct a flyover from Radhanagar to IGM Hospital to reduce traffic congestion in Agartala city. For this, Rs 300 crore has been allocated in the budget. A multi-storied parking facility is also being built at the old motor stand," he said.

The event was attended by Mayor and MLA of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumdar, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Dutta, Corporator Abhijit Mallick, AMC Commissioner Dilip Kumar Chakma, social worker Shyamal Kumar Deb, and others.

Meanwhile, on the same day, the Chief Minister inaugurated the renovation and beautification of another pond in the area adjacent to Milan Sangha of Town No. 8 Bardowali Assembly Constituency.
