Rs 3 lakh sanctioned from PMNRF as medical aid for Padma Shri Chitta Maharaj

Agartala, May 25: In a significant humanitarian gesture, the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) has sanctioned financial assistance of Rs 3 lakh for the kidney transplant treatment of Padma Shri awardee Chitta Maharaj (Chittaranjan Debbarma of Shanti Kali Ashram).

The grant was approved to support the advanced medical treatment of the noted spiritual leader, whose health condition had necessitated urgent kidney transplantation.

The timely release of funds is expected to ease part of the financial burden associated with the complex procedure.

Member of Parliament and former Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb played a key role in facilitating the assistance. According to Deb, the matter was brought to his attention following which he promptly forwarded the application seeking support under the PMNRF.

Sharing the development through social media, Deb thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the swift approval, stating that the prompt response reflected the Centre’s commitment to extending medical aid to individuals requiring critical healthcare support.

Deb also noted that similar appeals for advanced medical treatment have received positive consideration in the past, and expressed appreciation for what he described as a compassionate and responsive approach towards medical assistance cases.

Chitta Maharaj commands deep respect among devotees and the wider community. The approval of the medical grant has been welcomed by his followers and well-wishers.
